Fall Risks
Today is one of the most discouraging topics from this devotional. If you have ever seen someone climb up a rock wall you know how impressive it can be! The determination, the patience, the endurance, and the strength it takes is encouraging. However, watching someone fall is the complete opposite. It's heartbreaking to see someone try so hard, struggle to reach near the top, and then it happens... One small misguided step. One misplaced hand. One small lack of judgement and you watch all their hard work disappear in front of their very own eyes.
When we accepted the call to follow Jesus we didn't accept an easy task. Just like sheep we are prone to wander. You may be on the road to free yourself from addiction and you fall back into your old habits. You've tried so hard to stop gossiping and out of nowhere comes a sentence you never intended to say. Maybe you're fighting for your marriage but then it happens and you're in another fight with your significant other speaking words you will only regret later. Don't give up on someone who is a fall risk! Forgiveness is not an option for those who call Jesus their savior!
Focus: Take time today and think of how you have grown through trials. We get to appreciate God's blessings above the clouds, but we grow closer to Him and rely on His strength in the valleys. More than likely there is someone in your life who you are having a hard time forgiving. Jesus didn’t give up on you in the valleys. As a child of God, you don’t get an option to only forgive the people who look like you, act like you, and enjoy the things that you enjoy. Choose to forgive your neighbor no matter their attitude, social status, skin color, or religion.

About this Plan
Above The Clouds is a devotional intended for those whose life is going well right now. While we celebrate our victories on the mountain top we can lose sight of our neighbors in the valley. I pray this devotional encourages you to refocus your eyes, even when life is good, so that we may continue to love people the way Jesus does—even if that means coming down from above the clouds.
