Daily New Testament - Quarter 4Намуна
Before reading the final chapter of John’s Gospel, notice a couple of significant things from the previous chapter. First, in 20:21, Jesus clarifies that we, his followers, are to continue his mission. That is, we are sent into the world just like he was to serve others so they might experience the life-changing power of Christ. Second, in 20:30-31, John reminds us that this mission is what his book is really all about. He’s not interested in just telling a story; he wants to see more and more lives changed by Christ!
This final chapter shows Jesus moving his disciples in that very direction. And the last thing he says to Peter should ring in our ears as well: “As for you, follow me.”
