When is it Pruning?
Day Five – The fruit
I once heard a callous manager say to his people about their work and his expectations, “I don’t want to hear the labor pains. Just show me the baby.” Would it be a surprise that he had little regard for people, except what they could do for his purposes and his goals? They were simple unfeeling pawns in his chess game of business and life. Would it surprise you that they felt the same about him and when he ended his life in pain, they didn’t care if he did have pain, nor did they even attend his funeral.
His legacy of pain and disgust followed him around until he died. He produced fruit during his life, but it was as rotten and self-centered as his life had been while alive. His legacy followed him in that his name became a curse word for many people who knew him personally. He left nothing good with his life, and most people were glad to see him go. Would you want your legacy to be like this man’s?
The good news is your Heavenly Father is trying to prevent this from happening to you, and this is why you are being pruned. I know it hurts. But there will be fruit because of what God is doing with you now, and it will be good fruit.
If you are in just such a time, my encouragement to you is to lean in heavily into the Lord. Tell Him where you hurt, but tell Him you trust Him with the outcome that He has in mind for you. Tell Him that you know His heart and that His plans for you are good. Thank Him for the attention He is giving you right now, and ask Him to completely finish His work in you, for you do not want to fall short of becoming the person He has in mind for your life.
Can you do this? Will you trust Him and His plans for you? The fruit will come because of the life He will make of you, and it will be good.
