Evolution Of Praise: Devotions From Time Of Grace

DAY 1 OF 5

A key to stronger faith?

According to a study done by the University of Georgia, there is something that can revolutionize your relationships. After surveying five hundred married people, the study revealed that being financially solid and learning healthy communication habits are important for couples, but not nearly as powerful as . . . praise. Couples who praise one another grow so close that they can deal with other issues, like debt and miscommunication.

Do you think the same thing would work with God? Peter does. He writes, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!” (1 Peter 1:3). Peter, who is writing to a group of suffering, persecuted Christians knows the key to revolutionizing their faith is praise (and he’ll spend the rest of his book giving them good reasons to do it!).

So what could you praise God for today? Perhaps you could start with who God is. He is holy—as pure goodness, he will never do anything to you that is not good. He is eternal—he will never die, grow frail, leave you, or forsake you. He is wise—he knows the perfect solution to the problem that keeps you up, the perfect words to say at the perfect time in the perfect way. He is gracious—he loves you even when you give him no reason to.

Are you looking for a stronger faith? There’s a simple way to get there. Praise God!
