DAY 5 OF 10

“The Prayer Warrior”

Go through and read today's scripture.

I sat on the edge of my bed, resting my head in the palms of my hands, and all I could do was weep. The pain was so deep. What little strength I had allowed me to mutter words under my breath in between sobs. I was pouring...no, dumping my heart out to the Lord.

I would imagine you understand. I'm sure at some point in your journey you've muttered tearful words unrecognizable to anyone but the Lord--groans of the heart that only He can decipher.
Hannah had plenty of reasons to dump her heart in prayer. She was barren, and at that time, that was considered a curse of the Lord. And on top of that, her husband's other wife (ugh) made sure she never ever forgot it.

1. It must have been wretched to share your husband. 2. It had to have been torture to not be able to have a child, especially with all that was expected of her in that culture. 3. It was probably so painful to be made fun of by "the other woman."

Hannah was hurting.

Hannah humbled herself before the Lord, and prayed. So much so that when the priest saw her, he thought she was drunk! She was completely broken, but she decided she was going to trust God with all of the hurt.

She could have asked God to shut Peninnah's mouth -- to stop the ridicule and humiliation. She could have made others her focus, but instead, she asked God to change her. She approached God with both humility and confidence, asking Him to make her a mother. Not only that, she committed her baby to God before she even saw the provision. What a warrior.

How often do we forget to run to the Lord and pursue His heart in prayer? Nothing is too small. Nothing is too big. He wants all of us.

Don't have the words? That's okay. You don't need perfect words. All you really need to do is come to Him, and He will translate your tears into words that His heart knows well.

Romans 8:26 says: "And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words."
