Worship Central—Stir A PassionНамуна
ALL FOR LOVE (GETHSEMANE)
Here in Matthew 26, we see the raw humanity of Jesus. He was fully God, yet fully man and in this moment He was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.
Many of us know what it is like to experience loss, pain and the emptiness that surrounds it. In this moment, we see the depth of Jesus’ emotion as He walked through this deep loss. He knew what was to come; this separation from the Father with whom He "was one", the worst separation possible of the most intimate relationship ever known. The anxiety it must have caused is beyond comprehension. As well as this, He took the weight of pain and sin of the whole world on His shoulders. We are incredibly moved by His honesty here.
Yet in the same breath, His majesty remains as read about the most stunning surrender ever seen "not my will, but yours"; total denial of Himself (physical, spiritual, emotional) superseded by His devotion to the Father. There is no higher love than this.
He knew that He was the only one who could stand in the gap for us, and chose all of this, for our sake.
The only conclusion we can come to is that His motive behind His journey from the garden to the cross, was love. Deep, driving, convicting, unwavering love.

About this Plan
“Stir a passion in my heart, God. Let it overflow, let it overflow…” In this 5-day series of devotionals, the team from WORSHIP CENTRAL addresses topics related to renewing our passion for Jesus and for His kingdom in the midst of the struggles and “busyness” of the everyday. These devotionals are for the person who is “counting their blessings” AND for the person who’s barely hanging on. May we see situations and people (including ourselves) as He sees them. May our hearts be open to His will, as we sit at the feet of Jesus.
