Praying God's PromisesНамуна
The Battle is God’s
My prayer partner Carole and I have prayed together for the past ten years. Carole admits that when we first began to pray together, she was worried that God wouldn’t answer her prayers because she thought he wanted her to suffer because of her past mistakes. But as we prayed, God miraculously answered our prayers with one breakthrough after another. As God continued to give us victory, he began to show Carole that she was truly loved and forgiven and that he wanted to answer her prayers. Our prayers also went through a transformation. When we first started to pray together, our prayers were based more on worry than on faith. Now we’re finally able to pray, “Lord, the battle is yours.”
Adonai Nissi means “the Lord is my banner.” When Moses was leading his people to the Promised Land, the Amalekite army came against them in the desert (Exodus 17:8–16). Moses came up with an amazing battle plan. He appointed Joshua to lead the Israelite army while he climbed a hill. There on the hilltop, Moses lifted his hands to heaven. As long as his hands were raised, Israel prevailed in the battle. But when Moses’s strength failed, his hands dropped and the Amalekites prevailed.
Moses finally became so exhausted that he sat down on a rock, and he allowed his companions to hold up his hands to the Lord. His hands held steady until the Israelites won the battle just as the sun slid beneath the horizon.
Afterward, Moses built an altar to God and called it Adonai Nissi, the Lord is my banner. The Lord is also your banner. Open your heart to him and watch him provide the breakthroughs you need to win the battles you are facing.
Your Word says: “The Lord your God is with you, a Powerful One Who wins the battle. He will have much joy over you. With His love He will give you new life. He will have joy over you with loud singing” (Zephaniah 3:17 NLV).
I agree: I am so grateful that you are my Lord God, the powerful One who wins my battles. You are happy to be with me. You pour your love into me and give me new life. You sing with joy over me because I am yours.
