Hearing God's HeartНамуна
They overcame him by the word of their testimony
This verse is not exalting the power of our mere words or claims as the source of our victory. We can ‘claim’ to be on the moon, but a thousand years of testimony will not move us one inch closer to that delusion! The power of true testimony is that it involves the aligning of my mind with what God says, and this is not just true, it is the foundation of truth!
There is power in strongly reminding myself of what God has done and who He has made me. There is power in declaring the work of God through the cross and the resurrection. Satan is totally defeated, and that is a fact that is brought into my experience when I believe God’s Word, and confess with my mouth what He has done. I am making that victory mine.
Remember that the testimony of the prophets was always in the past tense when speaking of the cross. “And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6) The prophet needed to be bold to declare something that he had never thought of before. Similarly, we need boldness to declare something so incredible that we never hear such things from any other source than the Word of God. “...as He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17) This is to be the testimony of all God’s people, and by this we will be released to know the power of the truth.
