Driven Or Distracted? Намуна
Driven By Distractions
The Bible warns us not to get attached to things of this world because they will surely pass away. The truth is over and over again we find ourselves attached. We get attached to social media, lusting after love, attaining financial success and trying to fall into the "living our best life" category. The warning is not about the things that you desire out of life or hope to accomplish. Remember, Psalm 37:4 says to delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. It's okay to have goals.
The warning is in regard to us attaching our identity, focus, and drive to things that were not designed to sustain us. When we are driven by things that were created by this world for our enjoyment - rather than what God created for our enjoyment - we find ourselves driven by distractions.
Be careful not to focus solely on what appears to be pleasurable that you allow it to paralyze your purpose in the end. Take distractions out of the driver seat of your life. Distractions that give worldly enjoyment cannot sustain you - only God's love and purpose for you can.
Reflection:
Have you mistaken your distractions for the drive behind your ambition? How can you reframe the purpose of distractions in your life?
