DAY 11 OF 33

I Will Trust

Dirceu Jardim

Ready:

“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

Set:

By 2015 my soccer team made it to the municipal league final and we were getting ready to face a very strong opponent. At the time, I was simply thinking of trusting my best players and all the practices we had in recent months. However, before entering the court I realized that none of those things could be useful if it were not for our trust in the Lord. So we had a special time of praying and trusting in God.

Maybe you have had situations like this in your life where you believe that your efforts deserve a victory. But as you begin to look at the challenge ahead of you, you realize that you may need to have trained more, be more prepared, or even more equipped. The Bible tells us that our trust cannot be in who we are or what we have, but our trust must be in the Lord.

Trusting in God is not an easy task when you are focused on results and achieving your goals. Usually we want to have control of the situation and control of our lives. But trusting God and believing that He has the best for our lives takes a weight off our shoulders and exercises our trust and dependence on Him. That should happen daily in our lives.

Go:

1. As a competitor, in what moments have you trusted in your own potential?

2. Why should you trust God in competition?

3. Have you trusted God?

Overtime:

Proverbs 29:26

God, help me to say “I will trust in You.” It doesn't matter how big the obstacle, I want to trust in You, not in my strengths. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

With Jesus Christ and His Word transforming us daily, we can be strong 24/7! The FCA Strong Devotional tackles issues that coaches and athletes during competition and in life. This 31-day plan will also help establish a consistent, daily quiet time with God, and includes extra readings and suggested prayer.
