The Shadow Of My Porch Swing - The Presence Of God - Part 2Намуна
OVERFLOW
Walking into our hotel breakfast, I spied a state-shaped waffle iron and my heart went pitter-patter. I immediately wanted to check Amazon and see if it shipped Prime. It’s not that we are lacking in the waffle iron area. My cupboard holds a heart shaped iron, a Belgian iron and let’s not leave out the very necessary Captain America waffle iron. Is it really necessary to have three waffle irons?
I find myself giddy over waffles, which is partly to blame for our Sunday breakfast-for-dinner routine. With five males in my house, food is a labor of love...and I do mean labor. As those lids open and close on Sunday evenings, I’m reminded that my heart pours love into each mold along with the batter. Served up with a side of honey thank-you’s and sweet syrup kisses. I’m convinced it’s not so bad to have three waffle irons after all. What you have overflowing is just evidence of what you love and on Sunday nights, from the overflow of the heart, the mouth eats.
What is your heart full of today? How do your actions bear evidence of the condition of your heart?
Father, thank you for the truth that the state of my heart can often be seen in the state of my mouth and actions. Correct me and show me where I need to change what fills me up. I want my life to overflow with You.
