Squad Goals

DAY 3 OF 7

Cheering for other people can be very difficult when you haven’t had anyone cheer for you. But I decided a long time ago that I’m going to be my friends' biggest fan.

My friends have enough people telling them why their idea is crazy, and why it’ll never work, etc. I just made up my mind ahead of time that before someone tells me something exciting about their life … I’m just going to support them.

Let’s just say I have a friend who shares a dream with me and I have negative thoughts about it. Sure, I can share those thoughts and they MIGHT be helpful. But in most cases, they will be hurtful. And the truth about my negative thoughts toward their dream is that they are primarily based on what I can see with my natural eye.

Here’s the third squad goal:

Goal #3: Believe the best in people.

More than being known as a good friend, my hope and prayer is to be known as a faith friend. When people have a dream, I want them to call me. When people have a bad doctor’s report, I want them to call me. When people need a little bit more faith to go a little further, I pray they call me and expect to have a friend who will believe the best in them.

We walk by faith, and not by sight. When someone shares something personal and vulnerable with you, you can respond by faith or by sight.

Your prayer today should be that God would allow you to see your friends and their situations through His eyes, and then respond appropriately. Who's someone in your world right now who could use your faith?

About this Plan

Squad Goals

It’s said that the average Facebook user has 200 or more “friends.” But can anyone really have 200 real friends? Can anyone really have 20 real friends? Regardless of how many people you have in your world (or your squad) that you can call friends, God has a purpose and goal for each of those relationships to help you accomplish His will.
