Faith Leads to Obedience
The Biblical concept of obedience is extremely vital for our spiritual growth. In 1 Samuel 2:30, we learn that God honors those who honor Him. But if we choose to disobey God, we will face the consequences. In other words, your response to God’s direction will determine whether you're blessed or cursed.
However, we must ask ourselves if our obedience to God is motivated by fear or faith. Do you obey God because you fear the consequences? Or do you submit to God because you love Him and believe He’s got your best interest in mind?
If you genuinely love God and have unshakeable faith in Him, you will trust His Word and follow His direction. Obedience should be a natural outflow of your faith in Jesus Christ.
A father might ask his son to finish up his dinner quickly, intending to take him out for an ice-cream. But if the child has no clue about the ice-cream and takes his own sweet time, he will miss out on his dessert.
Often, we miss out on God’s blessings, simply because we aren’t obedient to His will. And by the way, delayed obedience to God is also counted as disobedience. If you are faithful to do what God has asked you to do, God will faithfully do His part and bless the work of your hand.
God is faithful to everyone walks the path of obedience. When you choose to walk in God's will, you position yourself for divine blessings. He will take your current location in life and make it the perfect occasion to receive a blessed promotion. When you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you towards righteous works, you align yourself with God's will.
When you honor the authorities God has placed over your life – parents, pastors, teachers and leaders, you pave the way for God to bless your life. And as a bonus, your work becomes more meaningful. Be careful to respect any law that is not against God's word. But any law that violates God's law must be violated.
When you have faith in God’s word and willingly obey Him, you locate yourself in God’s will. This sets the timeframe for God to work on your behalf and promote His perfect will in your life.
