Uncommen: In The Likeness Of MenНамуна
In The Likeness Of
There is so much in this verse from Philippians, but the part that sticks out to me was the phrase “in the likeness of men.” Having the honor of running the Men’s Ministry “Uncommen,” I get the chance to communicate with men from around the world. Some are encouraging and feel there is a huge need for men to step up again in the world to help set a better example, and some are going through brokenness in their family and lives.
With that kind of feedback, and knowing myself, I look at the statement “in the likeness of men” and shake my head. There isn't much to be desired to be in my “likeness” to say the least. But Jesus humbled himself to our likeness for us to understand that He knows us in every way possible. Our struggles, addictions, weaknesses and all the things that make us who we are. But the key to this verse for me is “likeness.” While Jesus was born into our likeness, He was so much more.
In spite of knowing our frailties and weaknesses, he was able to reach people with the Good News of Salvation. Love people where they were while challenging them to be more than they are. Heal the sick, raise the dead and take away the sins of the world.
Jesus has now called us to be reborn in His likeness. The fields are white with harvest, and the need for us to lead people to the saving knowledge of Jesus is greater than ever.
Uncommen Questions
- Do you know your weaknesses?
- Do you know your strengths?
- How are you using each for God’s Glory?
- How can you turn your weakness into a strength for Christ?

About this Plan
God sent His only begotten son onto earth in the likeness of men. He was so much more than simply a "man," but what we can learn from Jesus' humanity and heart during His earthly ministry? In this study, we'll look at Philippians 2 to see how to live Godly in an ungodly world.
