Prayers From the Bible Part 1నమూనా
The prayer of Moses and Miriam
Exodus 14 provides the context for the prayer of Moses and Miriam in chapter 15. Here, the Israelites have left Egypt and are in the desert, and with the Red Sea at their backs, they see the Egyptians coming after them. They are terrified and say to Moses that they should have stayed in Egypt rather than die in the desert. Then Moses says, don’t be afraid because the Lord will fight for you.
We know the story. The Red Sea opened, and the Israelites passed through on dry ground, and the Egyptians perished when the sea closed over them.
In response to God’s saving action, we have this prayer and this song of Moses and Miriam.
Take the time to read Exodus 15:1–21 carefully. It tells of what God has done to save His people, how the enemy of God has been vanquished, and how God is praised because He hears His people cry out and answers them.
We, too, can sing out with confidence, ‘Who is like you – majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?’ (Exodus 15:11b).
Our God is highly exalted and reigns forever. He has also rescued us from our sins and promised eternal life. Do not be afraid. Stand firm. He is with us. See Him in action.
