NO ESCAPE
Read Jeremiah 48
You are probably thinking, Really Carl? These verses? What are you thinking? I know! I know! But just let me explain. Moab had “gotten away” with so much. They had been cruel to God’s people. They thought they were untouchable. But God was preparing their judgment.
These verses tell us, just like they told Moab, that there is no escape from God’s judgment. We can’t run from God. He is everywhere. Terror, the pit, and the snare are still out there. But thanks be to God, Jesus has removed them all. All we have to do is accept Him and allow His sacrifice to satisfy the judgment.
TEACHING MOMENT
Your children may think they are getting away with things sometimes. You know what they have done but have not handed down the “judgment” yet. You are waiting and hoping for repentance, for remorse, for confession. But it doesn’t come. So, you have to present the evidence and hand down the consequences.
Your children sometimes are caught off guard. They knew they were guilty all along but had refused to come clean. Now, presented with the evidence, they have a choice—confess or continue in the sin. In these little life lessons, we need to drive home the bigger lesson. God will hold them accountable for their sins. But Jesus has already paid the price—if they will accept it.
Perhaps you are living in a place of unrepentance right now. Maybe you need to come to Him before you fall into terror, the pit, or the snare. There is no escape from God. He knows it already. Just confess it and know that you are now safe in the arms of Jesus.
Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I have forsaken Your truth. I have fallen short of the glory of God in my life.
