Proverbs 27:17

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Doing a Bible study as a couple is a great way to grow your relationship with God through what you read and share with each other. You’ll have the opportunity to encourage each other during moments of doubt or when facing challenging questions. It will also create a space for open dialogue, where you can express your thoughts and feelings, creating a deeper understanding and empathy between you. You’ll be “sharpening” each other and growing together in faith.

Step 5: Discuss and Reflect

After reading or studying, take turns sharing your thoughts and reflections on the material. Be honest and open, even if your viewpoints differ. It’ll be interesting to see how scripture speaks to you both in unique ways. Be sure to discuss how you can apply the lessons you learn to your relationship and personal lives.

Step 6: Pray Together

Be sure to make time for prayer after you’ve done your study session. You can use this time to pray over what you've learned, your relationship, and any personal concerns or goals. Ask your partner if they have any requests, and take turns praying out loud. While it might feel uncomfortable at first, especially if you’ve never prayed together before, it will help your emotional and spiritual connection deepen even more.

Step 7: Evaluate and Adjust

Every once in a while, discuss how the Bible study is going. Are you enjoying the material? Is the schedule working? Are the sessions too long or too short? Adjustments might be necessary to keep the experience enriching and aligned with your spiritual goals. This ongoing evaluation ensures that your Bible study remains a source of joy and growth.

Kicking off a Bible study with the person you're dating can be really rewarding. Stick to these steps, and you'll strengthen your connection and dive deeper into understanding each other and what you both believe. It's all about growing closer in the best way possible!
