Being Secure As Part Of God’s Team
When I was at school I was miserable at sport. In fact I was miserable about sport. Sport of any kind made me feel as though I was officially RUBBISH. I was the overweight one who always wanted a note from the Doctor to excuse me from every games lesson. Sport clothing of any kind accentuated my flabby, unkempt body and Lycra was most certainly my enemy.
A few years ago I decided to change all that. At the age of 42 I started to lose weight. I joined a gym, got myself an amazing personal trainer, taught myself how to run and entered a 10k race. Instead of envying the joggers along my road, or wanting to trip them up, I waved to them happily as I jogged (slowly) past them. Suddenly, I belonged.
To belong in a spiritual sense means to be included, affiliated to, allied with, connected, linked, owned by, at the disposal of and safe in the arms of GOD Himself.
The Bible is clear that God wants us to feel loved, accepted and secure in Him. He doesn’t want us to wait miserably in the rain by the wall as all the good players are picked. We are picked FIRST by Him. He wants us on His team. This is our inheritance. This is His desire for us.
Isaiah 44:5 says, “Some will say, ‘I belong to the Lord’; others will call themselves by the name of Jacob; still others will write on their hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and will take the name Israel.”
You and I are royal children of the most mighty King there has ever been or ever will be! We belong to Him. Everything He has is ours in Jesus. It’s coming to us, but we have to reach out for it and believe it is there BEFORE we can see it. That is what it means to have faith. We have to trust that we belong on His team.
Do you need to remember today how much you are loved by God? Maybe you could write in your journal or place a note in your Bible thanking God you belong to Him.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for reminding me again that I belong to You. Thank you that I find my security in being on your team and part of your plan. Amen.

'Insecurity is based on doubt. It asks deep questions like “Do I matter? Am I important? Am I loved?” It also asks shallower questions like, “Does this suit me? Can I get away with this haircut?” Whoever you are and whatever you do, you will have times when you feel insecure. This plan offers simple practical ways to apply biblical truth when insecurity strikes.
