Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 12నమూనా
When we read the book of Revelation, we recognise these three movements: how Christ establishes Himself in the midst of the culture of the day, the handling of the past, and embracing the future.
In the first part, Revelation 1-7, we see how Christ establishes Himself as the one of hope between the congregations. The fulfilment of the old covenant makes room for the realities of the new covenant.
In the second part, Revelation 8-14, we see the implications of the old Covenant on those who rejected Christ. We can choose to live in the framework of the old covenant, but then we have to pay the price of the old covenant. Rather, establish your identity in the realities of the New Covenant and live according to those realities.
In the last part, Revelation 15-20, we see the Implications of the New Covenant; we live as sons and daughters of God who bring restoration to this world.
Today’s Chapter is Revelation 1, and our key Scripture is:
Rev 1:1-2 CSB "The revelation of Jesus Christ that God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, (2), who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, whatever he saw."
The word that is used for the word ‘revelation’ in the original text is the word 'apokalypsis’. This means the unveiling of or the taking away of the veil. Paul helps us to understand the context of this word in 2 Corinthians 3 when he explains to us that by taking away the veil of the old covenant, we discover Christ, the One that establishes the New Covenant.
We are people of this New covenant, and we now live in the reality of the New Testament because Christ fulfilled all the requirements of the Old Covenant.
Are you living according to the Realities of the New Covenant?
What are the implications of this in your world?
