Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 7

21 యొక్క 16

We all love our freedom, don’t we? We don’t need anyone else to tell us what to do or where to go, or what to think. Or do we?

In the second Chapter of Colossians, Paul warns us that there are thousands of different voices out there that try to influence us and as long as we don’t know where to listen first, we are not free. We are trapped in the jungle.

There are even voices that want to pull us away from Jesus.

Paul urges his readers to walk in Jesus, which means to stay close to him.

Why? Remember! You have received Him! You have put your trust in Him!

Paul continues to remind them: You were dead in your trespasses. But Jesus! But Jesus! In HIM, the whole fulness of God dwells bodily! In Him and no one else! Remember what you have in Christ! Stick to the one who triumphed!

It seems to me that we need this reminder from time to time, in Christ, we have everything we need!

Today's verse means that we can live our lives in close fellowship with Jesus; we are to be totally dependent on Him for everything, and we are invited to make Him the first voice in our lives.

This is true freedom, to be close to the one who knows everything, who fights and triumphs for me.

This is true freedom, to lose independence for the sake of a higher good: The love and companionship of Christ.

How can today’s verse help you focus more on God's sovereign love for you?

How have you experienced Jesus setting you free?
