Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 7

In Ephesians two, Paul invites us to look into our past.

What was it like before we met Jesus and entrusted our lives to him?

What happened to us before we could receive these blessings in Jesus that we read about in chapter one?

Paul writes that we were spiritually dead. It sounds crazy, but with Jesus, we have been raised from the dead! That's the main point of this chapter.

In verses fourteen to sixteen, we discover that we have been resurrected and made a new man along with the Jews. Paul writes: “by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances”. From now on, Jews and Gentiles have been united into one body.

The fact that Paul calls the church the new building does not mean that God has finished with His people, Israel. He still has plans for Israel, as we can read in Romans 9-11.

It states, "Let us be thankful that we are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household." We have been adopted into God's family!

Let us be deeply grateful for this in our hearts! I invite you to spend a few minutes in a prayer of thanksgiving and to think about this question today: What place do YOU have in this great family of God?
