7 Days to Live Unconquered

DAY 5 OF 7

The Mystery of Purpose

Throughout human existence, we have sought the answer to our reason for existing and how that relates to our purpose. Most often, when someone questions his or her purpose, it is, at least to some degree, tied to a perception of vocation. However, this is an incredibly shortsighted approach to such a profound and immeasurable issue. It’s essential to keep it in perspective when seeking the answer, so we do not look at our purpose from the perspective of merely a vocational point of view. We must address it through the lens of eternity, and when we begin to see life through that lens, we will discover how close our purpose was to us all this time.

You may not see your life as a masterpiece. I get it. I was there at one point in my life too. Life is messy. It can also be chaotic, and it can be unspeakably painful. But it is and will always be precious. Are you viewing your life by measuring it against worldly success and achievement? If so, maybe that’s why you can’t see how magnificent yours is.

Your relationships and life are worth more than success in business or finances, and your life is a masterpiece, covered with love, threaded with grace and mercy, forged in pain.

Look at your life through God’s eyes. What do you see? You should first see his Son, Jesus, standing as your defense attorney before a judge, being prosecuted by the enemy of our souls, in a case for eternity. Next, you should see God declare you not guilty because of acceptance of the perfect sacrifice. You should see you restored to salvation, redeemed, empowered by perfect love.

Live in such a way that you hear the same when your life is over. Live in such a way that you do not leave any regret, no unpursued dreams, and no unfulfilled calling or purpose.

You discover purpose when your mind is united with the instructions of God’s Word, renewed by reading it, and cleansed through the power of prayer.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I have so many questions about life. Today, I choose to open my heart, my mind, and my hands and ask you to lead me. Reveal to me the divine purpose for which you created me. Order my steps and lead me. Let me live in such a way that honors you and leaves no regret when my time here is up. Amen.
