Living for God

DAY 2 OF 15

In the Old Testament, we read about the prophet Jeremiah. God chose him to be a prophet to the nation of Judah. God revealed to him that he had a very special purpose; to preach and warn people that they needed to stop doing bad things and turn back to God. Jeremiah must have been so afraid to bring this message. He said to God, “But I’m only a young boy. I don’t know how to speak to the people.” God reassured him, saying, “Do not be afraid. I will tell you what to say. I will help you.” Jeremiah had a big job to bring messages of judgment and warning, telling people they were doing the wrong things. These messages weren’t always easy to deliver. People were angry at Jeremiah for saying things they didn’t want to hear. But God also had him bring some amazing messages of hope and healing, God’s goodness and promise. Those who were faithful to God listened and were filled with hope in the face of difficult times. Jeremiah lived out God’s purpose for his life despite some amazing circumstances. He was imprisoned, called names, beaten up, and even thrown down a muddy well! But God rescued Jeremiah in every situation. He ended up writing one of the longest books of prophecy in the Bible. It took a lot of courage and faith to live out that mission. From small beginnings, Jeremiah obeyed God, and God made him a man of purpose!
