Real Hope: Back to Basics - God's Kingdomనమూనా
Rule And Reign
A friend of mine best explained the kingdom of God we read about in the Bible as ‘the generous rule and reign of God.’ Jesus brought the kingdom of God wherever He went (Matthew 4:23). The good news of God was accompanied by the good things that happen when God is present. People were healed of sicknesses and demonic forces; people were seen for who they truly were. Natural forces even listened to the voice of Jesus. God gifted the world with His son and, most extraordinarily, gave an invitation for all to join His kingdom family. It is all in the Bible and well worth the read.
The best thing about God’s kingdom is that we all have the chance to continue to speak about the good things of God and to demonstrate the generous rule and reign we’ve discovered wherever we go in both spiritual and practical ways. I can offer to pray for sick people and make some wholesome meals to drop around. I can pray with friends that the evil forces in the world will be halted and find ways to support organisations working in practical humanitarian and environmental care. I can listen to others beyond words to see their heart; regardless of what I see, I can choose to be kind.
I believe in miracles, and I have made my peace with God for the times when I don’t see the miracle I hoped for. I have decided that if I stop telling people about Jesus, I will never see anyone come to faith, and if I stop praying for people to be healed, then I will not see anyone healed. So this side of heaven, I want as often as I can, in as many ways as possible, to welcome God's wonderful, generous rule and reign. The best part is that you can too.
