6 Cues to Find Your Calling

DAY 4 OF 7

Remember that you are called to serve the body of Christ.

Oftentimes, the Church will discern in you a particular gift that you are unaware of. Sometimes, the community of faith and leaders that surround you can perceive God’s calling in your life better than you can see it in yourself.

Consider their suggestions about where you fit best in the big picture of God’s redemptive plan for humanity.

When I was young, I remember people would tell me, “When you speak, when you preach, there is something different about you. You speak with passion, and I feel like I can relate.”

Listen to your mentors.

Listen to your pastors.

Listen to your parents.

What are they saying concerning where God has called you? David was called to be king by someone else (1 Samuel 16), and Samuel anointed him; that was enough for David to know God’s will.

You do not need an angel to tell you your calling; take what your leaders say as enough to start dedicating time to that calling.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, use the lives of those around me to show me what you're calling me to do. Prepare me to receive their advice with humility and a joyful heart, so that I can turn my attention to diligently pursuing Your calling in my life. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen.

About this Plan

6 Cues to Find Your Calling

People often ask, "How do I know what I am called to do?" With this plan, I want to explain how there is a general will of God for every Christian, and this general will of God involves: following Jesus, forsaking sin, and winning souls. However, as you continue partaking in God's general will for your life as a believer, His specific will for you begins to be uncovered.
