Run the Race

7 యొక్క 7

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses . . . let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. (Hebrews 12:1)

A few years ago I trained all summer for a triathlon. I worked hard and committed a fair amount of time to my preparations. About a month before the race, I finished my training run with terrible pain in my knee. After resting it for a few days, I was able to return to my training. But on race day, shortly after starting my run, the final leg of the triathlon, the pain returned. I wasn’t sure that I would be able to finish and certainly wasn’t going to reach my time goal. As I came around the last curve toward the finish line, my family was waiting for me. They could see that I was hurting and cheered even louder, encouraging me across that finish line. My dad even ran the last hundred yards beside me. Their enthusiasm helped me keep going, and their presence reminded me that I wasn’t alone.

In our Christian walk, we’re never alone either. Many have come before us to show us the way; many will follow after in our footsteps. Jesus himself surrounds us, spurring us on to follow him.

When the road is difficult, take encouragement from those around us. When our path seems clear, encourage someone who’s struggling. We’re made to share our journey together. Who has guided you along your way? Who’s watching you for guidance?

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for surrounding me with people to help me on the journey.

Run the Race

In Hebrews, Paul invites all believers to run with endurance the race set before us - a metaphor for persevering in faith. You run this race with Christ ahead and with brothers and sisters from all times and all places surrounding you. This 7-day plan focuses on the resilience God develops in you as you train for glory.
