More Than a Career: Creating Space for Your Kingdom Callingనమూనా
I looked up from my journal to see the blue and orange glow that only happens right before the sun rises. With coffee already coursing through my veins I was armed for the day, peaceful and ready for the meetings ahead. I heard the small pitter-patter of feet on the hardwood floor and before I knew it a footie-pajamas child with a security blanket in tow and bedhead stood waiting to be cuddled. His small body fit in my lap like a perfect puzzle piece and we spent 15-minutes together before the breakfast and backpack hustle began. All was right in that moment because I was already armed spiritually for the day.
This could have gone so differently if I had hit snooze and missed this precious moment.
I believe this is why the Proverbs 31 woman got up before the sun. She knew that in order to handle her day she would need to arm herself first. When we wake up too late, and everyone is scurrying to get to work and school. it creates an emotionally charged feeling of unrest and anxiousness which usually leads to a lack of space for God to help us in our calling.
It is important that each day before our day begins, we spend time with him in the Word and in our hearts. This requires a disciplined evening routine that gets us to bed on time, a positive mindset about our alarm, and discipline to not check social media and our email first thing in the morning, but instead communicate with our heavenly father.
I want to challenge you to take a quiet moment, start with 15 minutes, and realistically look at your calendar to see where you can make adjustments so that you can start getting up earlier. Even if getting up before the sunrises, like the Proverbs 31 woman, isn't doable currently, I challenge you to get up at least 30-45 minutes earlier and take a moment to sit quietly, journal, and talk with God!
I promise you that it will grow into so much more!
What day or days this week can you get up 30-45 minutes earlier?
