Disconnect - Unplug From the Noise

Do not lie to each other

Let’s say truth and unity are in a relationship. If truth decides to hide, cover up or outright lie then truth would no longer be truth. Instead, through this dishonesty, unity is broken. Deceit is now empowered and truth becomes relative. The only way to fix unity is to bring truth back into the relationship. Our human nature is naturally relational. We were made to be united through families, friendships, marriage, colleagues, classmates, clubs, teams etc. All of these relationships are strained if deceit is involved.

Proverbs describes deceit as someone who seduces only to rob us of everything important, leaving us wondering how we got there and knowing we’ve sold something valuable for something worthless. The word “lie” comes from the Greek word pseudomai, where we get the word pseudo, meaning something fake trying to pass as the real thing.

It’s worthwhile to ask ourselves why we would not want the real thing. Would you choose a bag of counterfeit money instead of a bag of real money? Obviously one is worth a lot and the other isn’t. Today, there are some very realistic replicas around. How would you know which one to choose? Simply by asking the most loving person you know, to guide you: The Holy Spirit.

Ask Jesus to forgive you for partnering with any form of lie. Often he will identify it and bring it to your mind. Ask the Holy Spirit to to reveal His truth to you and empower you to walk into it.

Disconnect - Unplug From the Noise

Have you ever had a poor signal on your phone, when you can’t hear what the other person is saying? This happens because of the noise around you or because of where you are positioned. To hear God we sometimes need to disconnect from the noise around us. Over the next 10 days we will use Colossians 3 to disconnect from busyness, mute the noise and connect to God.
