“But the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.” - Mark 16:6-7 NLT.

Jesus is the son of God, who came to earth and was fully man and fully God. Jesus lived a perfect life. He never sinned but took on the world’s sins to make us righteous with God. He was innocent. He would die for our wrongs. But would he stay dead? No. He was risen from the dead, or “resurrected.” The word resurrect means to be raised from the dead. Our Christian faith centers around the resurrection. Through the power of the resurrection, God would accept the sacrifice of His son and defeat the power of death and sin once and for all.

Jesus’ death and resurrection confirmed that he was indeed God. Those who believed in Him would have eternal life, and the same spirit that lived and raised Jesus from the dead lives in those who have believed and followed Him.

As we begin to navigate Holy Week, we not only ponder our relationship with Jesus, but we wonder, celebrate, and praise the One who gives us eternal life. One day, when He calls us home, we will experience the same resurrection.

Our Christian belief is based on Christ’s death and resurrection. If Christ had never been raised from the dead, then our belief and preaching would be worthless. Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:13-14, “But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.” Praise God that we can declare the Good News of the Gospel that He is Risen! Praise God that we can experience the power of the resurrection in our lives. It's the Good News of the Gospel that changes our eternity. We have hope because of Jesus. You have hope because of Jesus.

What are you asking God for or praying God will show you this week?
