Year of the Bible: Part Three of Twelve மாதிரி
More on The Tabernacle.
As the plan for constructing the Tabernacle continued, Moses invited the people to give an offering of precious materials for the project. Remember how God had given them favor with the Egyptians, and they had plundered them? This opportunity was a chance for the people to give back to God from their wealth and was a unique form of worship.
God appointed specific people to construct the Tabernacle. By the power of the Holy Spirit, He gifted them to build according to His specific, detailed instructions.
David Pawson tells us that this was probably the first mention of spiritual gifts in the Bible. He also notes that the people's skills had consisted of construction and transporting bricks up to this point, so the assignment to build something so elaborate would likely be beyond their natural abilities.
God empowered these people to do things they had never conceived in their minds. Likewise, the Holy Spirit gives every believer gifts and empowers us to do that which is beyond our natural abilities. When we don't have what we need to accomplish what He called us to do, He provides supernaturally!
Question: What gifts has God given to you? A gift turns into a talent when practiced. Which of your gifts need more attention and use?
Prayer Focus: Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you in your everyday living and doing. Thank God for the Spiritual gifts He has given you. If you feel like you lack the resources to accomplish His call for you, ask Him to provide and show you what you already have within you to bring Him glory!
Special Assignment: Today, ask someone about their God-given spiritual gifts and tell them what you think yours are. If you're uncertain about yours, look at ways you have enjoyed serving God in the recent past and describe them with a verb or look up a free spiritual gifts assessment online.
