Living A Lifetime Of Mornings
While it is true that Jesus’ resurrection morning has set the course of the universe in the direction of LIFE, it doesn’t mean all the suffering we see and experience is instantly fixed. Our days contain a mixture of joys and hardships, green pastures, and dark valleys.
Sometimes our difficulties come and go within a day, but sometimes they can be more long-term. An obvious example is the pandemic we’ve all had to walk through over the past year or two. For some of us, it’s been okay, but others of us have found it really really difficult: physically, financially, mentally, spiritually. How do we keep going through a lifetime of mornings, especially when the season we’re in can make it difficult to get out of bed?
The writer of Lamentations certainly knew what it was like to walk through dark valleys. He watched as Jerusalem, the city of God, burned to the ground and the people of God were marched many miles away to Babylon. A total destruction of all that was important to the people of God ... there couldn’t have been anything worse. Very few people in Scotland (our home country) today have experienced anything as enormously destructive as that. Yet, in amongst a book of laments, verses like 3:22-24 are written with all authority and conviction.
We in Celtic Worship have been reflecting on God’s faithfulness through this pandemic: something we’ve known and felt in each of our lives. As ‘Morningtide’ came together, we were struck by how many of the songs tied into this fundamental, unchanging aspect of God’s character.
So often in the Bible, words of comfort appear alongside real-life experiences of fierce and intense suffering. Our lives aren’t going to be easy, but His faithfulness is absolute; His resurrection is complete.
The song ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness’ is directly inspired by today’s verses. Why not join us as we sing these words of comfort and assurance?
Morning by morning, let us remember the resurrection morning, which reminds us of God’s self-giving character, giving us comfort that He is in control today, and giving us Hope for tomorrow.
“Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow; Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside”

Every day begins with morning. Every day begins with light in place of darkness. This simple recurring movement is a basic part of God’s Creation, and a profound picture and description of God’s Redemption. Over 5 days, Celtic Worship invite you to join them and spend time with the One who has used, is using, and will use ‘morning’ - in our lives and in all things.
