The Prayer Powered Entrepreneur: Building Your Business With Less Stress and More Joyமாதிரி
What is the difference between being prayer-powered versus self-sourcing? I’m glad you asked.
Let’s just look at a typical day for me prior to being a prayer-powered entrepreneur.
I’d wake up at six o’clock (okay, 6:18 after hitting the snooze button a couple of times), start off with a morning devotional, then get ready to tackle some big-picture items for the day.
As I’d wait for my computer to boot up, I’d glance at my client list, ask God to bless me, and maybe even throw in a few specific requests for the clients I was going to meet with that day.
When I logged in to my email, I was immediately bombarded with messages, emergencies, and things that “just couldn’t wait.” Anxious and overwhelmed by all the work I suddenly had to do in addition to what was planned, I’d start answering emails, fielding calls, and making decisions without checking in with God through prayer.
Urgency and anxiety would escalate as the morning sped by until I’d take a quick break for lunch with its obligatory “bless this food” request lifted up to God.
Then it would be back to meeting with clients and putting out fires. Before I’d know it, it would be time to wrap up and get ready for dinner. My energy was spent. My joy was gone. None of the big-picture items had gotten done. Not a single one.
Worse than that, my clients, while all “fine,” had few supernatural results to report. For the most part, they were still worried. Their days continued to be hurried. Neither their impact nor income had substantially changed.
When operating my life and business as if it was all up to me, unfortunately, all my clients and I got was me.
We want more than that. So much more.
For that, my friend, we need him. All of him. All the time. In all things.
The path to a greater experience of God is prayer. Not necessarily all-day-long prayer. Not just deep, intercessory prayer. But, certainly, more than just throwing up a quick “bless me” prayer at the start of each day and an added, “bless my food” at lunch.
Today, I'd like you to reflect on how prayer has or could impact your business if you were to make it a non-negotiable part of your workday.
