Dealing With Meமாதிரி
Help! My Mouth Is Making Trouble for Me!
How does it feel to hear a continual dripping out of a faucet? You want to somehow turn it off because you don’t want to spend your day listening to drip…drip…drip. You’d likely want to say, “Please get a plumber — somebody turn that dripping faucet OFF!”
When you find yourself complaining, fault-finding, or criticizing your husband, according to Proverbs 19:13, you’re like a dripping faucet. What does your husband want to do with that “dripping faucet”? The same thing you want to do with a dripping faucet. Turn it OFF!
As a wife, you certainly don’t want your husband to have the attitude, Would somebody please just turn her off? You want him to like what you have to say and to enjoy your company!
Understand that your words have power. And if you criticize, judge, and try to change your husband, it feels to him like you don’t really respect, or love, him — because men receive respect as love. Just as attention and kindness minister love to you as a wife — respect ministers love to your husband.
So don’t allow negative words from your mouth to hinder your husband’s achievements. Your respectful words of affirmation and praise can influence your husband’s success positively. As a wife, it’s your responsibility to build up your house and to respect your husband. You’re either building up or tearing down with your attitude and words. There is no middle ground.
Today, you can make the choice to build up your home with the power of your tongue. It doesn’t matter what others do or don’t do. You’re responsible for what comes out of your mouth (Psalm 141:3).
You can have happiness in your marriage and a joyful and peaceful home. Repent if you’ve used your mouth to tear your husband down in the past — and make a quality decision to keep a watch over your mouth in the future. If necessary, apologize to your husband for any fires you’ve started in your home with your mouth.
By yielding to the convicting power of the Holy Spirit and submitting to God’s Word, you can build up your home and your husband with your words. Affirm your husband and give him the respect he needs. God’s power is on you to give him sincere admiration and to build your home!
Confession
My words are powerful! They either build up or tear down my husband. Just as attention and kindness minister love to me as his wife — respectful words minister love to my husband. I will watch over my words as a wise woman who builds her house, speaking words of love and life over my husband.
