Thief of EverythingMfano
We have all been in a spot where we have looked at someone’s perfect makeup, expensive shoes, flawless hairstyle, and name-brand clothes and wanted it for ourselves. As teenagers, we are always wanting to either fit in with or stand out from our peers. In today’s verse, Peter’s writing shows us that this isn’t a new struggle either. Even 2000 years ago this was a big deal. But Peter is saying that this doesn’t need to be our main concern. As followers of Jesus, we don’t have to worry about it because we are clothed in both outward and inward beauty that won’t change even when the trends fade. So, we can choose to be more focused on the good God is doing in and through our lives. Even though there are many chances to feel like we don’t have “enough” or what we really want, we can make sure to keep our hearts focused on Jesus.
Next time you catch yourself comparing yourself to someone else, I encourage you to reread and memorize this verse. Remember, God made you the incredible person you are, just as you are.

Students tend to compare themself to others. This is totally normal, yet wildly unhelpful. In this devotional experience, you will discover that comparison not only keeps you from liking others, it robs you of things like joy, peace, and grace! And the further you move away from comparison and toward contentment, the more you’ll be able to love who you are just as you are!
