TGIF for Women: 7 Devotions for the WorkplaceMfano
Never Leave You
Jackie spent decades working to achieve power. She told herself that it was for a good cause. She was lying to herself. Self-reliance became her carefully mastered skill. By the world’s standards, she had it all, until she didn’t. She lost her career after twenty-two years. The people who promised they would never leave and that they loved her all left. She was faced with the questions: Who am I? What am I here for? Where are you, God? She hadn’t needed God before while she was trusting herself. And then God answered.
Jackie was sitting in a Starbucks in Canada when her life changed forever. She met a devotion writer with a doctorate in theology, who guided Jackie to God through weekly Bible studies. Jackie has since learned that self-rejection and self-reliance only serve to divide her from God, but when she surrendered, the gifts of peace, provision, healing, and forgiveness flowed to her.
She also learned that faith does not mean ease, and that trials and tribulations do not mean God has abandoned her. The biggest gift? She knows that it is by God’s grace, his indescribable love, and through the sacrifice of Jesus that she is saved.
Question: Have you ever felt like God abandoned you?
Father, thank you that you never abandon your daughters.
