Love God Greatly - His Name Is....Smakprov

READ: John 14:27
SOAP: John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
The disciples had only recently learned to live life with Jesus, and now He was preparing them for what would happen when He left. Jesus assured them He would send the Holy Spirit in His place. And through the Spirit they would be filled with His presence, His teachings, His reminders, and therefore His peace.
At first, this did not make sense to the disciples so they started pouring anxiety and confusion into the hole they assumed His exit would create. Jesus halted them and taught a better way; His way. The world thinks the only way to have peace is to live a life without conflict and pain. Conversely, Jesus gives us everlasting peace to pierce the middle of our conflict and pain and send ripples of calm out and onto our worries.
Holy Father, we need your peace in every corner of our souls. We ask for Your calm and steady Spirit to stand above the storms of our lives. Let us recognize where we are quick to give into fear and despair, and turn those troubles over to You instead. When we do, we hope the world takes notice of Your harmony as it permeates every discord. To Your name be the glory!

Through studying the names of God, we get to know our Savior more fully and spend time adoring Him for who He is. God shows Himself to us through His names because of His great love for us. We, in turn, have the privilege of loving, worshiping, and resting in Him on an even deeper level during this reflective time of year.
