Kingdom Rules (Part 2) - Disciple Makers Series #5Smakprov
Oaths; How Strong is Your Word?
Making our word stronger by using a vow – or an oath. Jesus wants us to just keep our word when we give it. Let our hearts show integrity through the words we say. When people do not trust what we say – because we have a habit of breaking our promises – we are in trouble.
Also, be careful what you say is true. I have seen people get in a lot of trouble (and I have done the same thing) because they declare something is true – and it is not. They have just not checked things out before they declare it. It sounds good, it makes sense – but it is not accurate. Especially be careful with God’s word. Make sure you know what God is saying – if you are not sure, then make sure you let people know it is your best understanding. There is no shame in having to change what you believe when you are wrong. I have done it so many times, that I am learning the hard way to be careful.
Time to pray
Father, sometimes I make such bad mistakes because I say things that are not correct. I do not do this on purpose – I am just careless, or lazy about checking things or just do not see what it actually says. So Father, teach me to be careful with Your Word to treat it with integrity. Give me a wise tongue to speak with care. Give me a gentle heart to deal with others – we all make mistakes. Help me be a good example for others to follow in this matter. I ask this in Jesus’ name Amen.
