UNCOMMEN Change: Being A Man For All SeasonsSmakprov
Day 3 - Embracing Change
There is one thing we cannot deny. Change is inevitable in this life. Neighborhoods change, people change, communities change and the seasons change. In Ecclesiastes Chapter 3, Solomon writes that for “everything there is a season and time for every purpose under heaven.” Most of us are familiar with these words from the song “Turn, Turn, Turn” written by Pete Seeger in the late 1950’s. This song holds the distinction as the #1 pop song with the world’s oldest song lyrics which was written around 977 BC. There have been nearly 3,000 years and close to 12,000 changing seasons since those words were originally written. Just imagine all the changes that have taken place in the world since those lyrics were first written.
To embrace the Christian life, we have to embrace change. Think back 5, 10, maybe even 20 years ago. Were you the same person you are now today? Of course not. You had to embrace change. I believe God is preparing us all for the next season of change in our lives. Remember that even though we are changing, God does not. He is constant in our lives and never changes.
Uncommen Question: What is a major shift you had to make in your life? How did you handle it? What’s a change you know you need to make now? Ask God to help you embrace that change in obedience to Him.
