Experiencing God in the Secret PlaceSmakprov
Are you worried?
“‘You are worried and troubled about many things.’” (Luke 10:41, NKJV)
Does this apply to you, too? Are you worried and troubled? If so, it wouldn’t surprise me with everything that’s happening in the world. Very similar fears existed in Jesus’ day and age, even while He was within reach.
Although He was actually among them—yes, amid people’s doubts and worries—they did not fully understand the miraculous possibilities in and through Him.
Let me give you one example. Jesus was traveling with His disciples and had been invited to the home of a woman named Martha:
“And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, ‘Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.’” (Luke 10:39-40, NKJV)
Do you know what Jesus said in response to that? Exactly the sentence I shared with you at the beginning: “‘You are worried and troubled about many things.’” And He continued by saying, “‘But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.’” (Luke 10:41-42, NKJV)
One thing is needed, especially when you are worried and fearful: “Sit at My feet, for I am within your reach.”
Did you notice that though Martha invited Jesus to spend time in her home, she didn’t slow down or stop and, therefore, missed His presence?
Maybe you have invited Jesus into your life and wonder why you’re not experiencing His peace. Are you sitting at His feet and listening to Him? Or do you expect Him to “do His work,” to help you, heal you, and take away your worries and fears while you rush through life as usual?
This is what Jesus says about Mary: “‘Mary has chosen that good part…’” (Luke 10:42, NKJV).
Isn’t it beautiful that Jesus thinks it is better for us to just be with Him instead of doing something for Him?
Don’t miss sitting at Jesus’ feet because you are distracted and rushing through life.
I invite you to think about that today...and come sit down at His feet.
You’re a miracle!
