Bag of Bibles
Dan Britton
Ready:
It is the same with my Word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. Isaiah 55:11
Set:
When I was eight years old, my grandfather, Pop, took me to the airport to hand out Bibles. Pop shared with me that there was a right way and a wrong way to hand out Bibles. He said to never ask, “Do you want a Bible?” Rather, he trained me to say, “I have a gift for you. I would like for you to have a Bible.” Not a question, but instead an invitation to receive God’s Word.
I was ready to go. After two hours of giving God’s Word to strangers as gifts, I was surprised I wasn’t mocked, ridiculed or humiliated. Instead, I learned first-hand the incredible power of God’s Word being given as a gift to bless others. I don’t think a single person said no. Maybe it was Pop’s training or that I was an 8-year old boy. Either way, it was used for God’s purposes.
Go:
- Do you have a passion for God’s Word? Do you have a passion to distribute God’s Word to teammates and coaches? If so, how?
- How can you creatively use FCA Bibles and Bible resources to impact your team?
- What does it mean in Isaiah 55:11 that God’s Word will always produce fruit? How can this fruit impact your team?
Workout:
Psalm 19:7
Hebrews 4:12
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Overtime
Help me to have a passion for Your Word and a desire to distribute Your Word to those in my life. We ask that Your Word will prosper everywhere it goes. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
