Gratitude on the Mountaintop
Mountaintop seasons are when it’s easiest to be grateful. When prayers are answered, things are going well, joy and thankfulness are not hard to find - these are the seasons we should lean into and acknowledge the goodness and faithfulness of God.
In 1 Samuel 7, we see Samuel taking a stone and calling it Ebenezer. The word ebenezer means “stone of help”. When Israel was victorious over the Philistines, Samuel used this stone as a symbol of God’s hand in their victory. After that stone was erected, anyone who walked by could see Ebenezer and remember that God had carried the Israelites through the battle.
What’s your Ebenezer? What are mountaintop moments from your life that you can look back on and see God’s hand in your life? Keeping record of God answering prayers is one of the easiest ways to remember God’s favor, especially when hard times come. And they will come.
Reflecting back on those special moments can carry us through the valleys in the future. They allow us to remember that God sees us and moves on our behalf when our circumstances are screaming at us to lose hope or doubt. The mountaintop is where we can strengthen our faith for the days to come. The mountaintop is what we reflect on so that no matter what we are facing, we know God is worthy to be praised. The mountaintop is something we have experienced and can hold onto to have gratitude in every season of life.
