The Path of PerseveranceUzorak
Today’s reading is a final word of encouragement to the Philippians. It begins with Paul addressing the conflict between two sisters in the faith, telling them to settle their disagreement. It’s important to note that these are not immature believers that Paul has no history with, but he says they are ones who have labored hard with him in the gospel. Relational conflict is an inevitable and important type of suffering we must endure and persevere through. Partnership in the gospel was important then, and it is now. We must divorce all of our preferences in who we labor around and with and remember that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. We need each other!
There is also a lot of instruction regarding our minds and what we should give our thoughts over to. We are to pray about everything instead of worrying about anything and not forsake saying “thank you” to God. Hardship is part of life, and when we respond with thanksgiving and prayer, we are able to have our hearts and minds guarded by His peace.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then, you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:6-8
- Is there anyone I am currently experiencing conflict or fractured relationship with that I need to reach out to for reconciliation?
- What is something I am currently worried about that I need to bring into the place of prayer?
- How can I apply Paul’s message in Philippians of the supremacy of Christ and the gospel above all other things to my relationships, finances, occupation, disappointments, current season, and dreams?

In the final hour, many will fall away, but there will be a remnant that finishes the race of faith well. Now, more than ever before, we need a reawakening in our hearts of the true meaning of enduring through trial, suffering, and pain in light of the return of Jesus. "The Path of Perseverance" is a 26-day journey through the books of Philippians, 1st & 2nd Thessalonians, James, 1st & 2nd Peter, and Jude.
