Homecoming (S3-E1)

DAN 4 OD 4

You all need a break

Fatigue comes in many forms. Sometimes you’re worn out physically after a long day. Sometimes your thoughts feel heavy, focused on worries that drain your emotional strength. Sometimes you’re following Jesus faithfully, yet your spirit feels weighed down – as if you’re fighting battles in your mind, your relationships, or your calling. And all of it makes you very tired.

Fatigue reminds us of something important: we are human, and we are not the Messiah.

Jesus is the Messiah.

And He says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Rest – how often do you long for that?
When your energy is gone… rest.
When your ideas run dry… rest.
When your patience fades… rest.
When your heart feels heavy… rest.

The rest you long for is found in Jesus.

But as with any invitation, you can accept it or decline it. Many of us decline without even thinking about it. We push through, try harder, tell ourselves to be stronger and hope tomorrow will be better. Yet the invitation remains:

Come to Me.
I will give you rest.

This rest is not only physical. Jesus offers rest for the soul.

This promise echoes back to the very beginning, when God created the world and then rested. He stopped. He enjoyed His creation. He shared unhurried fellowship with the humans He made. Sabbath was never about doing nothing; it was about being present — with God and with one another.

Jesus invites you into that kind of rest. Rest that restores the soul and is rooted in your relationship with Him. So, come to Him. He will not disappoint.

Reflection Questions

  • Where in your life do you feel most weary or burdened right now?
  • How are you responding to Jesus’ invitation to come to Him?
  • Do you practice rhythms of rest or Sabbath? What changes when you do?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your invitation. You know my burdens and my limits. Today, I choose to come to You. Give my soul the rest it needs, and teach me to walk closely with You. Amen.
