Crafted for a Cause
“Who am I? In a world full of 8 billion people, what do I have to offer?”
It can be so easy to feel small or insignificant or that what we do doesn’t really matter. But the good news is: God knows exactly who you are and why you’re here. Why? Because He created you.
He knows your innermost being. He knows your likes and dislikes, your desires and fears, your deepest regrets and greatest wishes. He knows why you make decisions before you even make them. And the best part is, no matter what—He loves you and cares about you. He created you uniquely for a purpose.
In Matthew 25:14-20, Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to a man entrusting his wealth to his servants. The man gave each servant different amounts of money. The first two servants invested what they’d been given and doubled the amount. However, the third servant buried his money.
When the man returned, he rebuked the third servant. But, he rewarded the other two servants and blessed them.
The master rebuked the servant because the master knew that he was capable of more. The third servant acted out of fear, while the other two servants acted out of faith.
The master wanted his servants to use the resources he had given them. He didn’t give them gifts to watch them fail. He gave them gifts so that they could flourish, build His kingdom, and live out their purpose.
And God wants the same for you.
Reflect on the gifts God has given you—spiritual gifts, skills, talents, and passions. Just like the master in the story, God has given you something unique, and He invites you to do something eternal with what He’s invested in you.
Reflect and Respond:
- What gifts has God given you? How have you seen them play out in your life?
- How can you use your gifts to serve and build your community?
- How does knowing your gifts affect your view of yourself and your purpose?
Prayer:
God,
Thank You for creating me uniquely in Your image. Because of You, I don’t have to struggle to know my purpose or who I am. I am Your child, and You created me for Your purposes. As I reflect on Your Word today, reveal to me the gifts You’ve given me and show me how I can use them for Your Kingdom. Give me the courage to use my gifts and abilities faithfully for Your glory and not for my own.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
