We all desire freedom and long to walk in it, and throughout our walk as Christians, the lines can get blurry as to what that exactly means. We know Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, and so we do not need to have eternal punishment because of that, but what does that mean if we keep sinning? What does that mean if we are still bonded to particular sins, habits, and addictions? Many factors can affect this and inhibit our freedom, but most commonly, we live in cycles of sin because of unforgiveness, wounds, and a lack of repentance. As we can see in the gospel of John, the kingdom of heaven starts with repentance! In the gospel of Matthew, the first recorded words of Jesus after beginning his ministry was, "Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near." (Matthew 4:17 NLT) Repentance is at the front door of the Kingdom of Heaven, according to Jesus! Christians are called to live lives of repentance, even shown in the Lord's prayer, which Jesus modeled for us to do. And we do not need to be scared of our Father while doing so because he is a God of love and grace. The bible even says, "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in a time of need." (Heb 4:16 NKJV) We can be confident that when Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, the all-knowing God died for every sin for our present, past, and future. But the proper heart posture is still going to our Father and reconciling. After doing so, we must forgive ourselves, love ourselves, and heal any wounds that have allowed the enemy to have a foot in the door for sin to enter. This plan will hit on forgiveness and spiritual wounds in the next two days!
