21 Days of Prayer - PersevereUzorak
When You Want to See Justice
Over the next 21 days, we will study characters in the Bible who persevered. Today’s character is the Persistent Widow. The Persistent Widow is a parable told by Jesus. A parable is a teaching aid used to illustrate a truth. This particular parable was to show how we should persist in prayer. In this parable, a widow goes before a particularly harsh judge. He neither fears God nor cares about people. The widow kept pleading with him to grant her justice. He refused and refused and refused. Eventually, he gives in to the widow due to her persistence. Jesus goes on to explain that this judge is unjust and eventually gives justice to the widow. God is just, so how much more will He grant us justice?
Paul writes in Galatians 6:9 to “not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not become weary.” Whatever you’ve been praying for, keep praying. Your persistent prayers are powerful. Your persistence gives insight into your faith. Even when it seems as if your prayers are not being heard, you can believe they are. Know that you are being changed in the process of prayer.
Finally, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says to “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, [and] in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” Rejoice while you wait for your victory. Never stop praying. Never stop believing. We serve a God who loves, hears, and sees us. Our persistence in prayer will be rewarded!

This 21 Days of Prayer resource is designed to help you study different characters in the Bible who showed perseverance when faced with various obstacles. Perseverance is a necessity in our prayer lives. We may not always have the experiences, answers, or outcomes we desire, but if we allow God to meet us in difficult times, we can hear clearly from Him and grow through prayer.
