Made to Create: Uncover and Use Your Creative GiftsUzorak
Your creativity is important to God: 3 ways you can be sure of this
Imagine you meet someone new at an event. How would you begin a conversation with them?
“Hi. What’s your name? What do you do?”
In the first book of the Bible, Genesis 1, God introduces himself to us pretty much like this:
“Hi, I’m God. I am The Creator. I make stuff. I made everything.”
1. God reveals how super creative He is.
The very first thing God tells us about Himself is that He is powerful and creative. One look at the natural world around you will assure you that God is not just a little bit creative. He is astonishingly, mind-blowingly, overwhelmingly creative.
When a person introduces themselves and spends their first five minutes with you telling you about an aspect of themselves, you can be sure that aspect is important to them!
2. God made you in His image to reflect His nature.
Soon after He introduces Himself, God tells us that He has made us in His image. “God created human beings; He created them godlike, reflecting God’s nature.” (Gen 1:26-28 MSG)
In growing closer to God, we often aspire to aspects of his nature such as being loving, forgiving, compassionate, or patient. We don’t always consider how we can grow in our creative nature.
If we are to reflect God’s character, we need to use our creativity.
“Creativity is God’s gift to us. Using our creativity is our gift to God.” Julia Cameron
3. God calls you to create.
Having created humans, God says “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for … every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.” (Genesis 1:28 MSG)
This is not a suggestion. It’s a command. This is our ‘cultural mandate’ to classify, nurture and develop the earth. Being a steward is not a mindless, mechanical task. It takes creativity and problem-solving.
Are you aware of a calling in your life to create something new? Whether it’s a ministry, a business, a community, a book, a program, or anything in between, ask God to guide and inspire you.
Creative Exercise
One of the ways we develop creative thinking is by disrupting our normal brain patterns. For this study try using a translation of the Bible that is unfamiliar to you. We recommend the Message version. Our objective is to enable you to see the scriptures in a new light. If you find this a bit uncomfortable, good. You are developing your creative muscle, so to speak.

Prayer
We praise You, Lord, for Your power and majesty. In You, all things are held together! Thank You for giving each and every one of us the ability to create. May we develop and grow this blessing to the best of our ability and to Your glory! Amen.
O ovom planu
Do you sense that you have something special to offer the world, but uncertainty or fear is holding you back? God is calling you to create. How do I know this? We yearn to create because we are made in the image of the Great Creator. Whether it is a business, family, program, ministry, or book, our Creator God has given us a deep desire to co-create with Him.
