You Don't Have to Be Afraid

If only it were as easy as "don't."

Don't worry, don't fear, just don't.

While it seems like it should be simple enough not to be afraid, most of us battle the temptation. Many times, fear feels more significant than our faith. But God does not leave us alone in the battle against fear.

In today's passage, Jesus promises us that he is not the same kind of giver as the world. The world offers many things we eventually discover we don't want or need. His promises never turn up empty. He never fails to supply wisdom and strength.

That thing you're scared to death might happen or will happen again? He is with you.

There is no need to be afraid. God is large and in charge. He is bold and in control.

His peace is perfect. His plan is perfect. His love is perfect.

Will you pray with me?

God, thank you for your Holy Spirit, the Advocate you've sent to remind me of your promises. You promise me that you will teach me what I need to know and that you will provide the peace my heart longs for. Help me to rest in your unfailing love without any fear.
