Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 8Uzorak
Can God really take that which was meant for evil, and turn it around for good?
In Luke chapter 23 we read the account where Jesus is brought before Pilate and falsely accused of numerous things. The religious leaders demand that He be killed. Pilate, however, decides that Jesus is innocent and wants to release Him. This enrages the religious leaders! They demand His crucifixion and for another, the convicted murderer Barabbas, to be released instead.
We know how this story ends. Barabbas is released and Jesus is crucified. When it comes to injustice – this moment goes down in history as the worst. The Son of God is sentenced to a criminal’s death on a cross. It appears as if evil has won! Hell must have rejoiced upon seeing God Himself hanging on a cross. All hope was lost when an innocent man went to die.
But we know what happens three days later. Jesus rises from the dead. This is monumental! This means that not even death itself could stop or curtail the ultimate purpose of God to restore humanity to Himself. God takes the worst moment of human history and uses it to ultimately triumph over hell, death, and sin itself. What the enemy meant for evil, God used for good.
If God can do that, imagine what He can do in your life. Whatever pain or injustice you may be facing, God can use it to bring about a glorious end. We might not understand it fully, but we can trust and rest assured that God is completely sovereign and in control.
