DAN 5 OD 27

Scripture

“Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Revelation 14:7

Summary

We often like to worship God for his goodness, kindness, and mercy. But God has other attributes as well. He is also righteous and just. One day He will bring His judgment and wrath upon all wickedness. He will judge the evil deeds of mankind and execute His wrath upon all sin. This may make us feel uncomfortable, but it is actually good. In fact, we are told to worship and fear Him. The Greek word for "worship" is to fall down before Him. God's wrath and judgment should cause us to worship. We should not only worship God for the attributes that make us feel good. We should worship God for who He truly is. His judgment should make us worship.

Discussion Questions

1. Why is God's judgment and wrath a good thing?

2. Does God's judgment make you uncomfortable? If so, why?

3. In what ways have you been limiting God to the aspects you like about Him?

4. Any other thoughts, comments, ideas or questions you'd like to share?

Closing Prayer

Lord God, you are the creator of the cosmos; the giver of every breath. We belong to you and we will give account to you one day. Help us to fear you, and tremble before you as we understand your mighty power! May we rightly worship you, Lord. Thank you for your coming judgment. Thank you that you will make all wrongs right. Thank you that you hate what is evil and love what is good. Help us to live good and godly lives as we fear your Holy Name. And most of all, thank you for Jesus, who took the wrath we deserve. Amen.
